CNS-1600 is a multiprotocol communications server that connects serialports and parallel ports onto an Ethernet. The CNS-1600 features anIntel 960 RISC Processor and a custom communications processor to provideperformance far beyond competing multiport and terminal server products.All sixteen RS-423 asynchronous ports can be operated simultaneously atdata rates of up to 115.2K Baus. Rs-423 provides backwards compatibilitywith RS-232 but operates over longer distances and supports higher datarates. In addition, two parallel printer ports permit simultaneousoperation of high speed printers.Host connects are made via 10BaseT or AUI Ethernet ports. The CNS-1600,a programmable device, provides connectivity for UNIX and NetWaresimultaneously. This means that UNIX users can share peripherals withNovell NetWare users.
